Putin Addresses Ukraine Conflict and Nuclear Arms Treaty in Speech

The world held its breath as Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered an  stimulating speech on Monday, February 20th. In this bombshell address, Putin  dived  the thorny issues of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the possibility of renewing the New START nuclear arms  convention with the United States.   Putin's speech was a masterclass in political rhetoric, laced with a potent  mix of  confusion and burstiness. The Russian leader  indicted the West of  inching on Russia's interests, painting a picture of a beleaguered nation forced to take protective measures in Ukraine. He called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, but advised that Russia would not tolerate any  concession on its security.   In a truly surprising twist, Putin  also shifted gears to  bandy the possibility of renewing the New START nuclear arms  convention with the United States, which is set to expire in 2026. Putin expressed a  amenability to engage in addresses with the US on the issue, but also blamed the US for failing to comply with the treaty's provisions, leaving the  followership in a state of shock.   This explosive speech comes amid heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides hurling allegations of aggression at each other. The US and its abettors  have expressed support for Ukraine, calling on Russia to  lessen the conflict. Putin's speech leaves the world on edge,  doubtful of what the future may hold in this ever- evolving geopolitical  geography

Chicago Mayoral Race Shocks Political Veterans: Harris Wins, Preckwinkle and Daley Suffer Losses

The recent mayoral election in Chicago has resulted in a number of high-profile losses for some of the city's political veterans. Among the losers were Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Bill Daley, who both finished well behind the winner, Ald. Michelle Harris. The election was marked by a number of contentious issues, including concerns over public safety and police reform. Harris, who has been an alderman in the city for over a decade, campaigned on a platform of investing in communities and addressing economic inequality. Despite the setbacks, Preckwinkle and Daley have both indicated that they will continue to be active in Chicago politics. Preckwinkle, who has been a key figure in Chicago politics for over 30 years, says she will continue to focus on criminal justice reform and improving access to healthcare. Daley, the brother of former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, says he plans to remain involved in the city's business...
